It’s no secret that the food in Jackson Hole is amazing. From authentic dishes at Teton Thai, homemade pasta dishes at Osteria to the world famous waffle at Corbet’s Cabin there is a delicacy for every palate. Local food magazine Dishing ran the numbers a couple years ago and every winter JHMR serves up almost 18,000 waffles and 10,000 Pho Noodle Bowls. The JHMR food and beverage program is robust and ready to serve guests daily all winter long.
What happened to all the food when operations came to a screeching halt mid-March? Of course F&B didn’t want to waste any of it. With over 1,000 pounds of food, including produce that has a short shelf life, the team quickly organized a “farmers market” style layout and invited lifites, mechanics, ski patrol and more to come “shopping.” Employees brought their own bags and gathered fruits and veggies across a large range, dairy products, milk, eggs and any items with dates prior to May including chips, bars and more. Everything not grabbed was donated to the Hole Food Rescue, a local nonprofit that distributes excess food to the community in need.
There is a saying in Jackson Hole that “people come for the mountain but stay for the community.” It’s the people in the community that make us proud to call Jackson Hole home. During this challenging time, many restaurants remain open for take out and delivery. Support those local businesses when you can by #shoplocaljh. For a list of open restaurants and shops, click here.
