Jan. 6-12 - It's been dumping in Jackson Hole and you know that powder soothes the soul. So far this week, we've received over THREE FEET of fresh snow! More's on the way this weekend and into next week. Read on for Dr. Huckinstuff's weekly recap:

KaPOWW! In a stark reversal of fortune, the week of January 6-12 brought us back from the brink of snowpack calamity, and into a fantasyland of face-melting insanity. Storms started stacking up on the horizon last weekend and by mid-week were delivering highly effective, mogul-mending pow to all elevations. Aided in its mission by gusty winds, the fresh snow rapidly healed up areas of the alpine that had fallen prey to weeks of base depth decay. Terrain that only days earlier had guaranteed deep bone chatters, was now detonating around us with big face blasters. The whirlwind week wrapped with three 10" touch-ups in a row, bringing a season that had been a total no-show back into the typical Jackson Hole flow. Looking ahead, expect those firm turn memories to continue fading away in the vapors of the rear view. It's time to accept that your consciousness is destined to be held captive, as long as this sweet powder pattern remains so active. -Lege

10-Day Forecast

After nearly a month without significant fresh snowfall, this week and next are exactly what we needed to heal the mountain and propel us into more prime conditions. Guests have been elated with fat flakes flying from the sky, inundating the Tetons. Face shots and powder turns are abundant. Mother Nature is doing her best to make up for such a strenuous stretch of high pressure to begin the season. Our eyes are glued to JH Insider and OpenSnow for more favorable forecasts. If you're planning any backcountry adventures, be safe and make sure you always have the proper knowledge, partner, equipment, and plan before venturing out of the gates. Bridger-Teton Avalanche Center's Avalanche Reports are a great place to start.
