Finals Day Recap and Results
Finals went off this morning in Tower 3 with all competitors who made it through the first two days of qualifying in Toilet Bowl. All of our finalists showed strong skiing and riding through Tower 3, which is known for its steep pitch, big cliffs, and tough light.
The amazement never ceased throughout the day as competitor after competitor found a unique, spicy line or stomped a nearly impossible air to the hardpack snow below. Each age group was tightly contested, with hammer after hammer being thrown in hopes of making it into the finish corral with the highest score of the day.
Most endearing of all, the camaraderie amongst the athletes was the true sight to see. No matter if a line was completed, a ski was lost, or a friend one-upped a fellow competitors' run; it was only cheering, hugs, and high fives for everyone that exited the finish corral. We love to see it and already can’t wait for next year!

Day 1 of qualifying for the Jackson Hole IFSA Junior Regional 2* kicked off on Friday with lots of sunshine, chalky snow, and some impressive runs by the athletes. For the first time at the Jackson Hole event, a 3-day format is being used, meaning more competitors will have an opportunity to qualify for the finals on Sunday. Today we saw 12-14 Ski Female as well as 15-18 Ski & Snowboard, Male & Female all getting after it in a firm but fun Toilet Bowl venue.
There was no lack of cheering from the crowd today while all the competitors put on a show, taking some unimaginable lines and quite a few notable airs and 360’s off the biggest cliffs in Toilet Bowl. After watching today, the announcer for the weekend, Tigger Knecht, claims “the bar has been raised for the level of competitor around the Big Mountain West, all rational expectations of skiing and riding were exceeded today.”
After what went down during the day 1 & 2 qualifiers, we all look forward to the finals on Sunday. Check below for results from day 1 & 2 and photos from day 1.

100K Vertical Feet in a Day
Can you imagine skiing/riding 100,000 vertical feet in a day? Ester Francus, a snowboard instructor here at JHMR, had the day off and set out with the goal of topping the leaderboard. In the process, she took 52 lifts and ended the day with an astounding 100,641 vertical feet — nearly twice as many as the next closest person of the day and more than anyone else in a single day this season.
Mindful Ski & Snowboard Camp
Mindful Ski and Snowboard Camp is back for a fifth year on February 1-4, 2024, coming off of its successful third session last winter. This three-and-a-half-day camp brings mindfulness to the full-body experience of skiing and snowboarding, enhancing one’s perspective on the relationship between sport and soul in the majestic environment of the Tetons.
