Oh and this morning wasn’t too shabby either!
Old Man Winter decided to swing by Jackson Hole to kick off 2020 and brought 21″ of snow with him. All week the forecast showed an “atmospheric river” of snow heading straight for the Tetons, and it surely did not disappoint. With snow predictions running wild both online and in Jackson’s favorite watering holes, locals and visitors knew that face shots and deep turns were in their future.
Generous overnight snow totals led to the Hobacks opening for the first time this season yesterday. Storm skiing was in full effect with free refills much of the day. Those who ventured down found abundant soft turns, face shots and gleaming smiles.
Fresh turns could be found everywhere, with many opting to lap Thunder or Sublette for their powder harvesting. Protected trees yielded even deeper snow, driving the stoke higher as the flakes kept falling.
The second day of 2020 began with the tranquil glow of an unexpected sunrise. Powder stashes were replenished with more than 7″ overnight, creating a blank canvas for skiers and riders lucky enough to get up with the sun.
Casper Bowl followed suit and opened up today, to the delight of those willing to make the trek. Calm, clear skies and shimmering fields of untouched powder gleamed with every turn.
We could not have asked for a better start to the New Year and a new decade. We will continue to see snow this week, albeit lower totals than the past two days. Winter has officially arrived. Don’t miss the opportunity to begin your year in a similar fashion with a plethora of savings this January in Jackson Hole.
