Jimmy Chin is an Academy Award-winning filmmaker, National Geographic photographer and professional mountain sports athlete. For over 20 years, he has led or participated in cutting-edge expeditions around the world — climbing and skiing Mount Everest from the summit and making the coveted first ascent of the Shark's Fin on Mount Meru. His photographs have graced the covers of National Geographic and The New York Times Magazine. He also co-produces and co-directs his films with his wife, Chai Vasarhelyi. Their film “Meru” won the Audience Award: Documentary at the Sundance Film Festival in 2015 and was on the 2016 Oscars shortlist for Best Documentary Feature. Their latest documentary “Free Solo” won a BAFTA and an Academy Award for Best Documentary Feature in 2019. Jimmy splits his time between New York City and Jackson Hole, Wyoming, with Chai, their daughter, Marina, and son, James.

Favorite Lines at Jackson Hole? Twice is Nice - I can glass it from my house or LOB on Four Pines. If it has to be inbounds, I would say Corbets, Alta 1, Tower 3, PB TB.
What inspires you? The natural world - mountains, oceans, deserts. People who achieve greatness with integrity, honesty and hard work and create positive change in the world
If you weren't a pro rider, you'd be? A photographer...or filmmaker!
