How Big Is Jackson Hole Mountain Resort?
Jackson Hole Mountain Resort is one of the largest and most iconic ski resorts in the U.S., boasting 2,500 acres of in-bounds terrain. The Resort’s vast terrain offers something for everyone, ranging from beginner to expert difficulties. Visitors can choose from 131 different trails, which can be easily accessed through a variety of lifts.
The Resort features the legendary Aerial Tram, two gondolas, six high-speed quads, and more. These lifts help skiers quickly and efficiently explore the mountain to enjoy everything JHMR has to offer. No matter your skill level, there’s a trail that will challenge you and provide incredible views of our beautiful surroundings.
What Is the Elevation of Jackson Hole?
Jackson Hole’s elevation is part of what makes the Resort so special. The summit of the mountain rises to 10,450 feet (3,185 meters), offering breathtaking views of the surrounding landscape. The base sits at 6,311 feet (1,924 meters), which provides a total vertical drop of 4,139 feet (about 1,262 meters). This vertical drop gives skiers and snowboarders plenty of room to explore and enjoy JHMR's terrain, while the high elevation ensures excellent snow conditions throughout the season. The Aerial Tram provides the largest continuous vertical rise of any lift in the United States!
How Far Is Jackson Hole from Yellowstone and Grand Teton National Parks?
Jackson Hole is located near two of America’s most stunning natural parks: Grand Teton National Park and Yellowstone National Park. If you're a fan of outdoor exploration, visiting our local National Parks is a must!
Winter
To access the National Parks in the winter, you must drive through the town of Jackson, which is about 12.5 miles (around 25 minutes) from Teton Village. From Jackson, Grand Teton National Park is about 18 miles (29 minutes) to the south entrance in Moose, WY. The south entrance to Yellowstone is approximately 57 miles away (around 1.25 hours) from the town of Jackson.
Summer
When the northern side of Moose Wilson Road is open in the summer, you can access both National Parks with a more direct route. The Granite Canyon Entrance of Grand Teton National Park is only 5 minutes from Teton Village. If you choose this route, the south entrance of Yellowstone is just 55 miles (about 1.5 hours) away from Teton Village.

When Does Jackson Hole Mountain Resort Close?
The 2024-2025 ski season at Jackson Hole Mountain Resort began on Friday, November 29, 2024, and the resort will remain open until Sunday, April 13, 2025. This provides skiers, snowboarders, and winter sports enthusiasts with nearly five full months of incredible conditions and outdoor adventures. The START Bus system offers convenient shuttle routes throughout the winter, making it easy for visitors to get to and from the resort.
