Happy New Year! That's a wrap for the first month of the season and 2024. December was chock-full of fresh snow, celebrations and incredible events. 92" of snow fell in Rendezvous Bowl, transforming the mountain into a wintry playground. Let's dive into the highlights, complete with a photo gallery chronicling a fun-filled month.
Snowfall
Mother Nature delivered in a big way last month, providing two multi-day storms that brought multiple feet of snow to the Tetons, erasing the woes of a dry start to begin December. The first major storm occurred December 14-18, providing 42" of snow. Jackson Hole powder hounds rejoiced and indulged in the ideal conditions, which allowed Jackson Hole Ski Patrol and Mountain Operations teams to open more lifts and more terrain in swift fashion.

After a brief respite of blue skies and shimmering snowy slopes, we re-entered the flow on December 24. From then through December 30, we received 39" of fresh powder. A mix of medium- and light-density snow caked all elevations, providing ideal conditions to open even more terrain and lifts. At the end of this cycle, the Hobacks opened and as you can see from the video below, the hero snow was absolutely incredible.

Celebrations & Events
December 20 marked the long-anticipated opening of the new Sublette lift!
Enormous positive feedback about the new lift has leveled-up skiers' stoke, and a ride time of just four minutes makes lapping "Subby" all the rage this season.
Ski in Jeans Weekend (December 6-8) is our now-annual day to celebrate the beginning of the season. We accomplished our goal of beating the world record of the most skiers and snowboarders in jeans at one mountain with over 3,200 denim-clad guests! Pit Viper, Ripton.co, and Monster Energy activated, bringing more fun to the overall experience.
Winterfest (December 21-31) is our annual, family-friendly holiday celebration. December is such an amazing time of year for families to visit Jackson Hole and create lasting memories together. Read our Destination December blog to start ideating about what you'll do when you visit next December.
We opened two new restaurants: Tram Dock and Trapper's. Although the dining experience differs between the two, we encourage you to visit both and soak in their respective vibes and culinary delights. Tram Dock is a tribute to the last of the wild West, blending vintage Jackson Hole iconography and carefully selected artifacts that tell the story of the Resort’s evolution, creating a nostalgic yet inspiring ambiance. Trapper's, located at Solitude Station's east wing (get off the Sweetwater Gondola at the mid-station), is an elegant chalet blending modern upscale dining with cozy charm. Follow along on Instagram for updates at both of these locations: Tram Dock Instagram | Trapper's Instagram.
Join us in giving a massive thank you to snowmaking, mountain operations, and Jackson Hole Ski Patrol for all of their efforts to start the year on a high note. Snowmaking teams worked tirelessly each day to blow snow on our slopes and provide an excellent base on the north side of the mountain and beyond. Learn more about the "most dangerous job in the ski industry" below in Gunrunners.
Mountain Operations quickly readied lifts and terrain as snow fell in abundance and Ski Patrol kept guests safe as terrain options expanded rapidly amidst two powerful storm cycles. Their dedicated hard work is imperative to having an optimal experience at JHMR, and we're all extremely grateful to have such incredible teams.
